Description

The Department qualifies its students to obtain a high degree of Bachelor (Master) in the following specialties of the Department:

Geology division: the science of studying geology in general has grown greatly during the last decades, as it employs the Natural Sciences in its various departments and specialties such as sedimentology, strata, fossils, petroleum geology, geochemistry, water sciences and exact disciplines to deepen the concepts of the nature and topography of the Earth's surface and subsurface resources and take advantage of the natural resources located there.

Remote Sensing Division: remote sensing has many characteristics that distinguish it. it is an important means of extracting sensitive and accurate information about the properties of any target at the Earth's surface and changes occurring on this target.the importance of this technique lies in the possibility of completing studies of large areas in a short time and with a small staff compared to the usual methods that rely on field work, as well as the possibility of obtaining information that is difficult to obtain by the usual methods. The optimal use of this advanced technology will certainly lead to cost savings and speed up the completion of surveys and studies required by development projects.

Vision

Vision of the geology division

Commitment to the development of natural resources within the sectors of oil, mineral resources and groundwater, building respect and appreciation for professional ethics and responsibility towards society.

Filling the existing deficit in geological specialties in the sectors of oil, mineral resources and groundwater.

Increasing the interest in studies and research, especially in research centers.

Preparing scientific cadres capable of advancing the level of teaching in scientific institutions by transferring scientific experience to them through studying the latest scientific developments in the specialty.

Vision of the Remote Sensing Division

Remote sensing technologies can provide important support for many applications such as the exploitation of natural resources, that is, all the materials of the face of the earth that can constitute a resource for humans, and from the multiple applications of remote sensing technology comes:

Geology.

Water Resources.

Mineral resources

Environmental Protection.

Agricultural and Soil Resources.

Message

The message of the geology division

The main key to the progress of society is to find a solid base for conducting a graduate program inside Libya, which is the main key to the progress of society, because the Libyan Academy is the leader in this field, and the right time has come to support this future mission to develop national cadres in the field of Earth Sciences.

The science of studying geology in general has grown greatly during the recent decades, as it employs natural sciences in its various sections and specialties such as sedimentology, strata, fossils, petroleum geology, geochemistry, water sciences and exact disciplines to deepen the concepts of the nature and topography of the Earth's surface and subsurface resources and take advantage of the natural resources located in them. This is the vision of the geology department.

The message of the Remote Sensing Division

Due to the urgent need to localize national cadres inside Libya to keep pace with developed countries, especially with regard to remote sensing technology, which is indispensable in all civilized and Developing Societies, and the demand for which is increasing day by day to contribute to development and development, the Libyan Academy decided to establish the Remote Sensing Division affiliated to the Department of Earth Sciences at the school of basic sciences in order to contribute to the formulation of modern Libyan society academically and technically and works to meet the needs of its institutions by preparing scientific and trained scientific and practical competencies and to be able to face the requirements of the future stage with confidence and reassurance.
